The Kraken RumFor some of the best creative work from around the world in the food and beverages category in the last twelve months, see the FAB Awards 2010. The awards recognise the contribution that outstanding creative work makes to building brands.

BBDO Toronto office won the inaugural Grand FABulous Award (best in show) for its 'Arctic Sun' stunt for Tropicana that saw a giant artificial sun being erected in the remote Canadian town of Inuvik. This sudden burst of light interrupted 31 consecutive days of darkness and attracted hordes of curious local, endorsing the juice brand's claim that 'brighter mornings make brighter days.'

In the Contagious-sponsored Integrated Campaigns category, awards were handed to: Leo Burnett Chicago for its Plant A Seed community sports initiative for Kellogg's; Leo Burnett Serbia for its bizarre 'Guru Jafforidza' campaign for Jaffa biscuits and Ogilvy New York for its hilarious 'Palace of Light' series for Shredded Wheat.

Top prize in the Social Media arena went to We Are Social's Marmarati campaign, featured in Contagious 22.

Highlights of the Packaging Design winners included the Marmite XO commemorative pack, designed by Core London, some mischievous art direction for Vilpuri baked goods by Hasan & Partners in Helsinki and Kraken Rum by Strabger & Stranger, London. The FABulous Award in this category went to Turner Duckworth for its Winter Olympic-themed Coke cans.

Interestingly there were no entries in the logo design category… an opportunity for next year for someone surely?
