Kulula livery 1South Africa’s Kulula airlines latest plane design has been a worldwide hit after being seen by plane-spotters en-route to South Africa.
The design covers the planes exterior in a tongue-in-cheek guide to the various parts of the planes interior.

"The 'Flying 101' was conceptualised and designed by Kulula's in-house design department. This branding idea is a result of our 2010 strategy to demystify air travel for our fans," comments Nadine Damen, Kulula Marketing Manager.

The new livery quickly became the talk of the internet, from blogs to Twitter, Facebook, Flickr etc.

Kulula livery 2The Flight Africa blog explains how Kulula scored the coup: it contacted airline enthusiast, spotter and photographer Malcolm Nason to take a few shots of the plane even before the design was unveiled. Malcolm is an influencer in airline photography so the photos soon found their way to the Airliners Gallery on Flickr. The blog goes on, “http://bit.ly/chxFmz+Kulula's great audacity and social media savvy will surely be greatly rewarded later this year when the World Cup comes home in June and football fans will be flocking to South Africa not just for the football fiesta but also to experience an airline that tries not take itself too seriously!”.
